About LVNL
Air Traffic Control the Netherlands – LVNL – manages air traffic in the Dutch air space and everything that comes along with it. Think of renewing and managing technical systems, supplying air traffic intelligence, training the LVNL staff and creating aviation maps and publications.

The project
In 2019 LVNL experiences the need to better streamline their portfolio management. They look for a new, modern system to centrally manage the large number of projects and gain greater strategic control over the allocation of scarce resources. LVNL chooses Fortes Change Cloud (FCC).
First, FCC is set up for the replacement demand: the scheduling system. Following this, in 2020 the portfolio management project was initiated.
The result
In 2021, LVNL completed the pilot project on Strategic Portfolio Management and it is now working on improving the adoption throughout the organization. The results are already present:
- They have a tighter grip on the utilization of critical resources
- There is management involved with the manufacturability of the portfolio
- Process, information and decision making is recorded in one singular system: FCC
- The planning horizon is longer
- Decisions are made in a centralized manner based on the entire portfolio and the connected resources, rather than individual estimations
